I've got a new brotha and sistah

4/12/2014

Don't quite know how this happened, but they're both 3 years old - that means I'm still the baby in the house.  They are BIG - a lot bigger than my Mimi-momma was and they chase me around a lot.   One is a Blue Point Himalayan named Alexandra aka Lexi-Doodle and the other is a Flame Point Himalayan named Nickolaus aka Mr. Toodles.   No good pictures yet.  Mommy is still dealing with trust issues and a lot of bad mats in their fur.  Will post some when they are pretty again.

January 01st, 2014

1/1/2014

Last year my mommy gave away one yard of fabric to each of two lucky winners drawn randomly from what was an admittedly small pool of entries.  This year she will be giving away a roll of beautiful deluxe giftwrap selected from her Spoonflower designs to each of 3 lucky winners.

To enter, just comment on this blog announcement and let me know which design you want.  Winners will be contacted for shipping addresses once they have been selected.  The drawing will be held at 10 PM on Valentine's Day (February 14, 2014).  Please enter only one time on this blog (you can enter once on each blog) but do tell your friends to enter as well.

Use the links on www.glimmericks.com to view available design collections or search on colors.   You can visit also visit mommy's shop at http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/glimmericks.  Bonus - you aren't limited to the designs that are already for sale for your selection. She can send you any of the designs that are not for sale.  It pays to know the queen - and pays even more to know Molly-Cool!

Stupid Hu-man!

12/26/2013

My mommy doesn't understand that her hand is my plaything to do with as I will.  I'm purring and don't use my claws so she should know that I am only using my sharp little teeth because, well, they need to be used or it's no fun at all to battle a phantom dragon!  It is best to attack any phantom dragon when it is sleeping, of course.  Maybe that has something to do with why mommy woke up with a scream and scared me.

Goodbye, Mimi

12/22/2013

Our little Molly-Cool's adoptive mom-kitty has purred her last.  We'll all miss her terribly but she won't be suffering.   She purred right up to the end.  Best darned cat ever.  A real people cat with a sweet and gentle disposition.

MiMi the Wonder Himi - 5 pounds of feisty dollfaced purrrrfection
R.I.P. December 22, 2013 - We all miss you baby-doll!

Been putting this off...

12/20/2013

Mimi is not going to get better :-(  We are keeping her comfortable with a low dose painkiller and antibiotics, lots of love, and plenty of her favorite foods and water.  She's slowing down though and needs to sleep a lot.  As long as she's able to purr, we know she's still feeling good enough to enjoy what she does.  Keeping our paws crossed that the rainbow bridge will be an easy crossing for her but we're not ready to say goodbye yet.

Mimi doing well so far

12/1/2013

We've still got our paws crossed.   She's been liking being wrapped up in her favorite blankets and very cuddly.  Yesterday morning she was a bit quiet but she's purring a lot today.

Mimi on chemo 4

11/28/2013

The tumors grew very fast after a single month on chemo 3.  Vet said we could give up or try one more very different chemo for which their was no information on how cats with breast cancer responded.   How could we give up with one more  hope?  So Mimi started yesterday on a very potent drug that has to be administered by IV weekly.   Cross your paws.   We'll know next week if it has an impact.  She's been hungry and playful today.

Mimi the Wonder Himi on Chemo 3

10/31/2013

The good news is Mimi is over 5 pounds (she was barely 4 last year). She's pretty healthy and feisty and as usual sleeps a lot and purrs plenty.  The bad news is the tumors started to grow again so she's on her 3rd kind of chemo.  We're hoping to shock and awe.  Mommy lets her have all the fresh home-grown catnip she wants.  She also had an antibiotic shot to help with her little sniffles and deal with the chemo's side effect of suppressed immunity.  Prognosis isn't good in the long run but we aren't giving up.

Update on Mimi the Wonder Himi

10/15/2013

Only one more chemo to go.  Mimi is now over 5 pounds - she started out at barely 4 pounds.   Mimi is a very small wonder Himi but I'm even smaller and cuter.  At least in less than humble opinion.  Anyway, she's even taken to swatting me away from the food bowl when there's chicken in it.   It's good to play with her again.  She was too tired before, but not anymore!

Mimi's New Chemo May Be Working

9/17/2013

Still keeping our paws crossed but after two treatments with the new chemo the tumor is shrinking and Mimi's putting on weight and playing more.  She leaps around, purrs like crazy and swats me at the food bowl, displaying dominance in a way she didn't do when she felt bad. She's even been grabbing food out of my Mommy's hands - loves an occasional bit of cheese or crushed potato chip!

Mimi has had a setback

8/8/2013

I broke the news on my Facebook page Tuesday.  Mimi has had another lump appear on the other side of her abdomen.  They switched her chemo to another kind since this means it is resistant to what she was on.  Darn - it was supposed to be her last visit and she's been so happy.   The doctor called mommy yesterday and told her the biopsy did come back positive so if the new chemo hasn't shrunk the tumor when she goes back in 4 weeks we're going to have to admit defeat. Mimi's still very active and alert and shows no outward signs of being sick so paws remain firmly crossed.  She got all the catnip she wanted last night and shared some with me.  I decided this time that the stuff is pretty darned good!

Whoo Hoo - I'm ONE

7/19/2013

I just turned one years old!  I am no longer just a little kitten.  Now I'm a little cat.  My cattitude is the same though.

My purr was broken

7/5/2013

One of my big brothers accidentally stepped on me the other night when I was sleeping on the top step and he didn't see me.  Gave everybody a scare but mostly me.  I was shaking and hid under the bed and wouldn't come out until he promised not to stomp on me again.  I couldn't purr for two days and ran whenever he came into the house. But I finally felt like purring again yesterday afternoon and my mommy was very relieved.

New Section - Spoonflower Swipes

6/4/2013

Picture
I've added a new section to my site to feature some of my favorite artists on Spoonflower.  I call it my Artsy-Swipes page, since many of the Spoonflower artists that I feature also have other artwork available from various venues.  There are so many favorites and I can only do a few at a time, so this area will be growing with a few new highlights weekly.  Links to all mommy's favorite artists and favorite designs are at the bottom of the page.

Mimi doing good

5/31/2013

We had a big scare this week.  Mimi went to visit the vet and they found a large bump near her surgery scar so they had to test it to see if the cancer came back.  Great news!  It was just a little bit of infection so they shot her up with a 14 day antibiotic so Mommy won't have to try to force an antibiotic down her throat daily and she was able to get her chemo yesterday.  Mimi's doing great.  Eating the best Fancy Feast appetizers and filet mignon.  I'm not complaining - she lets me eat with her at the same time.  It's good to be the kitten.

News is not good

5/31/2013

Mimi is healing well from her surgery but the biopsies came back and it was definitely a malignant lymphoma in her mammary gland area, with one very small tumor next to it.  While they found nothing else in the X-rays, the prognosis is not great.  Chemo is on the agenda when we visit the vet tomorrow.  The only good news is that Mimi is energetic and eating and drinking well.  That's supposed to be a good sign.

(This post was stuck in limbo so it got posted late.   Mimi's since been to the vet for her second chemo and she's not even phased.)

Mimi has passed her first hurdle

4/30/2013

Mimi went to VCA Barcroft Cat Hospital this morning to have her lump removed.  She seems to be okay but REALLY grumpy.  I want her to be all better.  She's wearing a funny-looking collar and has a shaved belly with stitches.

Cats can get breast cancer too...

4/20/2013

My big sister, Mimi the Wonder-Himi, has been diagnosed with a tumor in her mammary glands.   She is awaiting test results before surgery can be scheduled.  I'm really worried because she's my best buddy and I won't be able to play with her while she's recuperating.  Mommy says she may need some chemotherapy too.  I am keeping my paws crossed that it won't be necessary and that she gets all better soon.

Molly-Cool say "Outdoors NOT Cool" :-(

4/14/2013

I was soooooo excited as my Mommy strapped me into my new ferret vest.  It's a lot nicer than a collar or harness and fits my tiny body better.   Then she put me on the ground so I could check out the catnip and flowers but there were some really loud noises coming from nearby lawnmowers and I got pretty scared.  Climbed the trim on the front door trying to get back inside.   I'm thinking it's just better to stay inside so, while I'll greet my Mommy at the door, I'm happy to stay indoors, thank you very much.

I've been pretty chirpy lately

4/5/2013

Spring seems to be coming.  At least that's what everyone calls it. It's my first one so I'm pretty excited.  Seems like there's a lot going on outside of my favorite window.  New birds, people doing things, and pretty flowers.  I'm going for a walk on a leash this weekend!

Conducting Stress Tests of Spoonflower Fabrics designed by Glimmericks

3/26/2013

It's hard work, but it is as much fun as it looks.  Mommy makes a nice smooth layer on the table and I jump up and see how fast I can bunch it up.  Sometimes I bite the bright pieces too.  This  lamb design was particularly tasty.

My Favorite Play Place

I love these open steppy things with carpet on them.  I can sit here and bat at my peeps.  And when I get really excited I can run around them, hanging by my claws from the underside.

    About Molly-Cool

Molly-Cool is a calico babe who was abandoned on a road in the middle of nowhere in August 2012. Mewing piteously in 100+ degree heat, she was picked up by a kind man whose wife knew her Mommy.   She was only 3 weeks old and the vet didn't think she'd make it because she wouldn't drink kitten milk supplements.  She napped on a laptop to keep warm, licked a little Greek lemon yogurt from her Mommy's finger and guzzled a special nutrition paste from a tube like there was no tomorrow.  After a few tense days in a house full of big cats, Mimi, a tiny Himalyan beauty, became her protector, teacher and constant companion. Named Molly because she was "unsinkable," she remade herself into Molly-Cool through her antics and spunky personality quirks.  She's now top diva in a house with 3 other lady cats.  We will celebrate her first birthday on July 15th.
